The results are in for our Online Poll. After 12 months of polling the votes were clear. People are seeking to personalise their coffin design and funeral service. Most interesting was the result that close to 80% of people wanted to have their ashes scattered.
When we compare our Online Poll results with other major research surveys in USA and UK the results are very similar. Personalisation is reported as “the hottest trend in the funeral industry” MJK Marketing, whilst FMC (UK commercial research consultancy) found

• Over 50% of people, when organising a funeral in the future, would prefer to choose a ‘green’ coffin.
• 80% of families would buy an environmentally friendly coffin if the price was comparable with that of a standard coffin
• 90% of those surveyed would consider an environmentally friendly coffin when planning their own funeral.

The Co-operative Funeralcare research, from the UK, also found:

• 80% want personal touches for their own funeral
• 47% wished they’d known what the bereaved really wanted for their funeral
• 63% said death would be less frightening if we talked about it more
• 42% don’t know what to do at the time of bereavement
• 76% wanted advice on what needs to be done and can be done when someone dies
