The only thing he could not settle on was a coffin. Alan had always bucked tradition, and the traditional coffin just didn’t fit. I showed Alan a number of ideas knowing too well in advance that none would work from all he has told me beforehand. Jenny felt he was hanging in there – as he tried to complete all his plans. When I found the “Open Road” design I really felt I had found what Alan was searching for. I drove to his place late that night and showed Alan the coffin photo, saying we could even get a Harley for his final ride.
